Paint the Legend was a proposed exhibition of portraits of George Washington. The exhibition catalogue emphasizes the volume of portraits that have been made of the first president. Images are paired with excerpts from George Washington's personal journals, combining portraiture with self-portraiture. Also included, in a pocket inside the back cover, is a small book of rules of conduct that a young George Washington had transcribed for himself.

Other exhibition campaign elements include posters, tickets, badges, t-shirts, and a short animated trailer.
