This pocket guidebook to the historic landmarks that lie within Hurricane Evacuation Zone A in Manhattan aims to create a premature nostalgia for the world we live in now. It uses Manhattan as a dramatic example of the kinds of losses we face as a result of rising sea levels caused by climate change.

The sea water level as measured in lower Manhattan over the past forty years is printed on the margins of every spread of the book, a constant reminder of its insidious rise. The book is also punctuated by a several fold-outs of historical maps of Manhattan, vellum overlays, and a collection of postcards in a pocket at the back.
